Site Preparation

Careful Site Preparation is of the utmost importance!! Sloppy site preparation effects quality!!

In order for you to make the most of your dollars spent we make the following recommendations for site safety and production prior to our arrival to your lot.

Our machinery requires that it be set on ground that is firm, not soft or spongy. The ground should also be leveled and equal to an area with a minimum of 17' x 6'. We require enough space for our mobile mill and uncluttered space to stack your sawlogs, log slabs and sawn lumber.

Logs should be stacked in close proximity to where the mobile mill will be set up.

It is helpful if logs are stacked on timber skids that are the same height of the bed of our mobile mill. This would enable us to rapidly roll your logs onto the bed. You want us sawing your wood not moving logs.

This particular client of ours was about as close to ideal in site preparation that there is. To see what he did, click here.

Of course we will work with you and consult you every step of the way.

If we will be milling a combination of hard and soft woods, space is needed to stack sawn logs separately. For safety, piles would be no higher than 3 to 4 feet.
